More exciting than the auto show and as much horse power as any fundraiser, the Drive For Life event is celebrating thirty years of amazing success in the Kalamazoo community. The Drive For Life event opened in 1982, as the James Gilmore Jr. event, today the event is put on by Harold Zeigler Auto Group and Green Leaf Trust. The first year ticket selling price was one dollar, and the event raised $3,600. The very next year the event increased to over $22,000. Last year’s event raised $189,000 for the American Cancer Society.
This raffle and auction event includes many businesses in and around the Kalamazoo area. The raffle prize for 2018 is a 2018 new car or $30,000. The auction is jam packed with everything from sporting event tickets, week-long vacation packages to one of a kind auction items. Sponsors, businessmen, volunteers and community come together for this great event, driving the goal of the American Cancer Society to create more birthdays. Keep a lookout for this event to speed its way to the top.
